Eco-tourism parks in each district: AP CM Hyderabad, June 24 (INN): Making Tourism one of its key focus areas in the service sector mission, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu suggested creating eco-tourism parks in each district. In order to transform forest lands in the urban areas as biodiversity conservation zones, the Chief Minister suggested these zones can be developed into eco-tourism parks.
In a review meeting on tourism at Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister inquired the status of Hospitality University in Nellore. Highlighting the tourism potential Kadapa district has, the Chief Minister suggested developing reservoirs at Gandikota and opening them up for tourists. This will not just promote the tourism, but also increase passenger traffic at Kadapa Airport, he added.
Furthermore, he directed the officials to develop NagarjunaSagar, Nagarjunakonda and Buddhist monasteries at Amaravati in Guntur district. Modernization of islands and Bhavani Island with the help of Singapore companies around Amaravati will attract tourists, the Chief Minister added.
He also suggested organizing the Flamingo festival in Nellore district'sPulicat and Nelapattu. He further added that the Kakinada-Konaseema project can generate revenue of Rs 300 crore with an investment of Rs 100 crore.
Officials were also instructed to explore the possibility of organizing safari rides at zoological parks in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati.
For beach-tourism in Visakhapatnam, the Chief Minister said that six beaches in the city can be developed theme-wise. He directed the officials to boost GundavaliPalem and Rushikonda. He also inquired the status of setting up Madhurawada Amusement park.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that 10 companies are keen to start water sports at all the state beaches. They also added that 39 areas have been identified to be groomed as beach resorts.
In order to boost temple-tourism, preparations are underway for organizing sound and light shows at Kanipakam, Srikalahasti, Puttaparthi, Annavaram, Simhachalametc, officials added.
