Hyderabad, July 9 (INN): In order to meet the future energy requirements and peak demand of Andhra Pradesh which is likely to increase substantially due to future investments and capital region development, the power utilities have decided to expedite the ongoing projects by investing around Rs.30,000 Crores in strengthening the Transmission and Distribution network in the next four years.

Apart from this AP GENCO is contemplating to enhance additional generation capacity of 3850 MW by making investments of Rs.17,340 Crores in the same period. By studying the latest technological developments in the power sector including energy Efficiency, APGENCO/ APTRANSCO has focused on Super Critical Boiler units in the Thermal Generation, Multi Circuit Transmission towers for maintaining the global standards to reduce the losses and improve the overall efficiency. Whatever is the methodology adopted by the Utilities. It is in the interest of consumers, for the maintaining the quality power supply with affordable power charges, said K.Vijayanand, MD/ APGENCO and CMD/APTRANSCO (FAC).

While disclosing the above, during the brainstorming sessions with the Directors and Senior Engineers of Transmission and Distribution sectors, K.Vijayanand further stated that as per the directions of the AP Govt, the utilities are contemplating to create a separate mechanism for Quality Assurance. The Utilities will not hesitate to black list the default / erring power contractors if there are any deviations in execution of projects. The CMD has instructed the officials to expedite the projects as the power demand is expected to shoot up.

APGENCO which has stood No.1 in the country by maintaining PLF(Plant Load Factor) of 80.71% as against All India Average PLF of 65.11% has drawn up action plan for increasing the installed capacity of AP from existing 11,037 MW to 29,800 MW by the March, 2019 with a ideal generation mix of Coal, Hydel, Solar, Wind and other renewable energy sources to achieve most cost efficient power with self reliability.

Advisor K. Rangantham, who has participated in the session at Vidyut Soudha, informed that a special report is being prepared on the impact of various State and Central Govt schemes like Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS), High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS), Solar Pump Sets, etc., on providing quality, reliable & affordable Power Supply 24x7(Power For All) to the consumers which is the priority scheme of govt of A.P, and the report will be submitted to the Secretary, Energy, I &I Ajay Jain shortly.

The utilities have proposed the Govt. to install 400 KV Sub-stations in each districts so as to improve the voltage profile in certain areas and also deliver quality power to the consumers. As a part of this 6 Nos. additional 400 KV Sub-Stations (SS), 26 Nos. 220 KV SS and 75 Nos. 132/33 KV SS are proposed to be taken up. These Sub-stations will cater the upcoming loads during the next five years and will also meet to the power requirement of Power for All (24 X 7) scheme.
