TS Govt to support Airtel Hyderabad Marathon


 
Hyderabad, Aug 25 (INN): Hyderabad Runners Society and Bharti Airtel today announced their association with Digital Telangana, an initiative of Government of Telangana for 5th Edition of Airtel Hyderabad Marathon.

The 2015 leg of this annual sporting extravaganza will be held on 30th August and participation from 14,000 runners is expected. Considered to be among the leading city marathons in India, this sporting event also marks the beginning of the Marathon Week and aims to bring the 425 year old historic city of Hyderabad alive!!

Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications Department - Govt. of Telangana, Venkatesh Vijayraghavan, Chief Executive Officer, Bharti Airtel - Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Dr. Murali Nannapaneni, Race Director, Airtel Hyderabad Marathon and Actor Rana Daggubati were present at the event.

As one of the best and highly rated marathon events in India returns for the fifth year, 14,000 runners, health & fitness enthusiasts, volunteers, medical personnel and police join this sporting extravaganza for curtain raiser ' 3K & 5K run on August 29th and 10K, Half Marathon (21.095 kms) & Full Marathon (42.195) on August 30th 2015.

For the second time in a row, there will be a 36 hour run by Arun Bhardwaj on treadmill. An ultramarathon runner, Bhardwaj became the first Indian to win a 567km six-day race at Hekpoort in South Africa in 2010.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Murali Nannapaneni, Race Director - Airtel Hyderabad Marathon, said, 'We are extremely delighted to announce the association with Govt. of Telangana for 5th edition of Airtel Hyderabad Marathon.
