This year marks the 30th anniversary of the title, which is both eagerly awaited and debated by fans.Beckham played for ten years for Manchester United in England's Premier League. He also spent time as captain of the England international squad, where he played 115 games and scored 17 goals.
Winners of the award in recent years have included last year's choice Chris Hemsworth(2014), singer Adam Levine(2013) and Canadian Ryan Reynolds.Beckham is the first athlete to receive the distinction from the magazine. People's Sexiest Man Alive award has been an annual feature of the magazine since 1985, when actor Mel Gibson won the inaugural prize.
