SPB Receives Prestigious Award SP Bala Subramanyam is one of the greatest playback singers in South Indian Cinema and ruled the industry with his sweet and versatile voice for several decades. The eminent playback singer received a prestigious honour. SPB has been chosen for the Alva's Virasat Award 2015. He was conferred with Alva's Virasat award at a colourful inaugural function of the cultural event at Moodbidri.
The award, comprising Rs one lakh in cash, citation and memento, was presented to him by veteran scholar in classical music R K Padmanabha.
In his speech, Balasubrahmanyam said it was a memorable day for him as he had never been felicitated in such a grand manner in his career. He said he was dedicating the honour to his mother and seniors who had groomed him.SPB has so far sung over 35,000 songs in 15 languages in the last 40 years.
