HC clears 'Udta Punjab' with one cut The makers of "Udta Punjab" who is facing hurdles from censor board has finally breaths a sigh of relief. It's known that censor board has objected the film due to its content and imposed 89 major cuts. Makers of the film have approached the Bombay high court challenging censor's decision.
The Bombay High Court on Monday announced its verdict. The court have found faukt with CBFC and overruled the censor board recommended 13 cuts to and cleared the film for release with just one cut. Court has asked makers to delete a scene from the film which shows Shahid Kapoor is seen urinating in front of a crowd.It also asked makers to add three disclaimers.
While delivering the verdict the high court says apart from just one scene in the film, all other recommended cuts suggested by the censor board are not valid. The court said that the board should act as per the Constitution and warns CBFC to not act like a grandma. The court further says the current generation people are smart enough to decide on what to watch.
The decision from the court came after film makers approached the high court against the 89 recommended cuts of censor board. The film which deals with concept of drug menace in Punjab is scheduled for release on Friday.
