Facts that are stranger than fiction Hyderabad: Sometimes it happens, one becomes a star by default and a celebrity regrets rejecting the offer after the damage is done and people turn heady after one hit.
Some of the tidbits are compiled herewith, malice towards none but these anecdotes were doing the rounds since long, there is no yardstick to measure the authenticity, however.
Raghupathi Venkaaiah Award winner, Ballaya has revealed some of the very startling episodes during his tenure as a producer under his Amrutha Films Banner.
Chellelu Kapuram was the film he had taken up and literature and poetry has been given top priority in the film. The film has a poet his poetry and a worldly wise person as main characters.
Hero Sobhan Babu who played the role of the poet was the least paid artiste at that time. Heroine Vanisri and villain Nagabhushanam were paid much more than what Sobhan Babu was paid.
After the film was ready, the distributors were taken aback at the high dose of literature in the film and raised doubts about the future of the film. Balayya had put in his last penny in the film and said he has no money to spend.
Though distributors did not like the film, as it was laden with high decibels of literature, the classic literature proved to be the best point and the film was a runaway success.
After the success, Balayya went on for the second picture and approached Sobhan Babu. He flatly rejected the offer. It was a good story and was told to Vanisri as well. She too said no citing dates.
Next he and director K Vishwanath turned to Krishna who accepted the film and brought in Kannada star Bharathi and the film Neramu Siksha was made, which was also a block-buster.
