Ram Charan gets Big B blessings
Hyderabad: No sooner did he participate in the shooting of 'Zanjeer', the remake of the yesteryear classic of the same name, actor Ram Charan met Big B on Sunday and took the blessings of the star who portrayed the lead role, Vijay, in the classic. The role catapulted him to the angry young man image in Bollywood.
It is heard that while Big B was shooting for a commercial at Film City, Mumbai, Charan too was shooting in an adjoining floor.
Big B was gracious enough to call Apoorva Lakhia, the director of modern age 'Zanjeer', and Ram Charan after he came to know that they want to him. Big B met them and wished them well.
Charan is stepping into Bachchan's shoes for the remake. And after meeting the legendary actor, he posted a picture of him and Big B on Twitter by suggesting, 'Just met AB sir, took his blessings.. And NOW zanjeer begins..yay!!.
Charan has the highest regards for Bachchan and it was evident considering that he recently said, "If I think about how I'll be compared in our 'Zanjeer' with Mr. Bachchan, I wouldn't be able to get into it. I've constantly lived under the shadow of comparisons'.
Meanwhile, after much hulla-gulla surrounding her participation in the film, actress Priyanka Chopra, has signed on the dotted line to play the lead role alongside Charan.
It is also heard that, Piggy chop's role would be a far cry from Jaya Bhaduri's chakku-churee walee from the original 'Zanjeer'
The 'Kaminey' actress is rumoured to be paid on par with the film's leading man Ram Charan Teja for both Telugu and Hindi versions of classic 'Zanjeer'.
Rumour also has it that Cherry has promised to help Priyanka with her Telugu if she promises to help him with his Hindi, At the same time, Arjun Rampal has been confirmed for the covetous role of Sher Khan, the baddie-turned-buddy of Amitabh in the original.
Apparently, the model-turned-actor overtook Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood who were also in line for consideration for the popular part.
Legendary actor Pran played the part in the original, sporting mehndi-coloured beard and hair and singing the popular number Yaari hai imaan.
Since Arjun's role is very contemporary, the actor along with Apoorva has worked out a few ideas on his get up, which they will shortly zero down for the final look.
Apoorva stated that Arjun's looks and physique make him the perfect choice for a role like Sher Khan.The film is expected to release by May 2013.
