Mega Star all set to face camera again Hyderabad: The speculations about actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi's 150th flick have been making waves in filmdom and political circles since 2008.
It raked up more after the 2009 elections where his party Prajarajyam just managed to secure 18 Assembly seats. The latest buzz is that Megastar is all set to don the grease paint for his 150th film.
He was last seen in 'Shankar Dada Zindabad' and in a cameo in 'Magadheera'. The buzz is that it has been tentatively titled as 'Nayakude Sevakudaithe' and that his son Ram Charan is going to produce it under home banner Leo Projects Pvt ltd. The title has been reportedly registered in the Film Chamber.
There are also rumours that the movie will be a period film about a freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy.
However, other sources maintain that the movie talks about the prevailing conditions in the state and is expected to have punchy political dialogues where he will challenge his arch film rivals and political b'te noirs.
Chiru himself has been deliberately hinting about his comeback film since few weeks. He even expressed his deep wish at the audio launch of Ram Charan's movie 'Racha'. He said: 'I saw the rushes of 'Racha' and Tamannah has done a splendid job.
Many have been asking me for my 150th film. During my visit to 'Racha' shooting, I jocularly said that I was open to doing it if Tamannah is cast opposite me. And pat came her reply. 'I will do it by hook or crook.'
Party workers have been talking about how he has been trying to get approval from his party high command to don the grease paint.
The million dollar question is who will wield the megaphone? The names include VV Vinayak, SS Rajamouli, Shankar, AR Murugadoss, Ramgopal Varma. According to sources, Ram Charan will do a guest role in his dad's milestone movie.
Director VV Vinayak had directed Chiru in 'Tagore' and earned him a mega hit. But he is busy with a Ram Charan movie. According to grapevine, Chiranjeevi had a story discussion with him.
An official announcement is expected soon. AR Murugadoss who directed him for 'Stalin' gave him a big hit. The filmmaker had also directed 'Ghajini', which was produced by Allu Aravind, who is the brother-in-law of Chiru.
Then SS Rajamouli's name is also cropping up. But he is busy with 'Eega' and one with Prabhas. The Megastar had visited sets of the director's 'Eega' and was floored by his working style. Even Tamil director Shankar's name is coming up with talks of his movie.
Chiru had expressed his desire to work with the 'Robo' director after watching his Rajinikanth-Aishwarya starrer. The director has just released 'Nanban' and is likely to be free of commitments.
There is a talk that maverick director Ramgopal Varma is keen to direct Chiranjeevi's 151th and the title is 'Dora - The Lord'.
Even Puri Jagannath's name figured in the probable list but he is no more in the race as he has a handful of commitments including 'Devudu Chesina Manushulu,' 'Cameraman Gantatho Rambabu' and 'Businessman 2'.
Puri also was the man who directed Amitabh Bachchan's 'Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap'. Hope good sense prevails and Chiru will take up a great comeback subject and team up with a worthy director.
