Farah to setup dance school in Hyd Brand Hyderabad may have taken a beating in the last couple of years but its traction for the tinsel town surely hasn't. It appears that veteran actress Shabana Azmi and choreographer Farah Khan are interested in opening their own schools in the city.
'Shabana Azmi and Farah Khan are interested in starting a script writing school and a choreography school respectively in Hyderabad,' revealed Akkineni Nagarjuna, actor and president of the Annapurna International School of Film and Media (AISFM), at a press conference here.
He said Shabana Azmi and lyricist Javed Akhtar had visited AISFM recently and appreciated the courses and curriculum on offer.
Nagarjuna also announced that the AISFM had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) and that from this academic year, students pursuing bachelor's and master's courses at the former will get government recognised degrees.
The MoU is for a period of four years and the degree and master's courses will begin this August. 'Whenever a child wants to pursue a course, parents insist on getting a degree rather than a diploma.
That is why we have started various degree courses in the field of film and media, making it the first-of-its-kind in India,' said Nagarjuna.
Apart from Nagarjuna, R M Dobriyal, vice-chancellor, JNAFAU, Chris Higgin, vice-president, admissions and marketing, AISFM attended the press conference.
