5 crore offered for 'Rambabu' rights It was on the expected lines much before it went onto floors. The only thing was when it will take place. The man on a mission, Pawan Kalyan, after showing his might to the country with 'Gabbar Singh' is setting new benchmarks in terms of overseas rights for his film 'Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu' (CGTR) with the director in form Puri Jagannadh.
If reports are to be believed then 'CGTR' has been attracting huge investments outside India and investors are ready to shell out Rs 5 crore as overseas rights for the film which in turn makes it as the highest amount offered for any Telugu film till date.
This comes after Pawan's 'Gabbar Singh' shattered every other collection figures of Telugu films in overseas. The film went on to collect an approximate Rs 10 crore in countries outside India. It also holds another first of a kind for running 50 days in Malaysia.
The earlier highest quoted price for overseas rights for a Telugu film was Mahesh Babu's 'Businessman'. It was sold at a price of Rs 4.5 crore, but it failed to break even thus incurring losses.
Coming to 'CGTR' it's an altogether different ball game as the film has been in the news ever since it started for its theme besides the combo of Pawan and Puri who are uniting after more than a decade, hence the distributors are highly upbeat about its prospects in overseas markets.
Meanwhile, the film which is progressing at Sarathi studious in Ameerpet, Hyderabad, is attracting eminent figures of Tollywood who are making sure that they visit the hugely constructed set.
Recently Ravi Teja, writer Kona Venkat, directors Trivikram, Vinayak, Gopichand Malineni and Meher Ramesh visited the sets of the film.
'CGTR', a political satire, sees the 'Khushi' star playing the role of an investigative journalist while Tamaannah Bhatia will be seen in the role of Ganga, a cameraperson.
Produced by DVV Danayya, the film also has Prakash Raj, Kota Sreenivas Rao, Brahmanandam, Ali, and Gabriela Bertante in significant roles. While the first teaser is expected to be out on Chiru's birthday August 22, the film will release worldwide on October 18.
