'Eega' scare to other big releases After opening to thundering collections all across AP, Karnataka and US with steady figures in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, 'Eega' which has been creating lot of buzz since early July has lived up to what the hot-shot director promised.
Commercial acclaim apart, critical acclaim is also the call for the film. 'Eega', a revenge story of Nani who is reborn as a fly got its second victim, 'Julai' , the first being Sudeep.
The release date of 'Julai' was in jeopardy for a major part of July only for the producers to make it clear last week that indeed it will hit the marquee this Friday.
However, it isn't the same anymore as 'Julai' producers who were hell-bent on releasing their flick this week were left with no other options but to postpone their flick for 'Eega' to have an unopposed run for one more week.
'Julai' pushing forward means other big films in the pipeline, 'Devudu Chesina Manushulu' (DCM) and 'Uukodathara Ulikkipadatharaa' moving ahead.
While the Ravi Teja-starrer was to release this August 27, Manoj-Balakrishna starrer too was to release in this month, but with 'Julai' slated to arrive tentatively on July 20, it's no wonder that other films lined up for late July will also be pushed forward.
Well, this is not the first-time that producers who booked a release berth have succumbed to the pressure of an already released film which received humongous opening.
In May, Pawan Kalyan-starrer 'Gabbar Singh' had similar impact on other films. While 'Daruvu' of Ravi Teja had to be delayed by a week for Gabbar to have a solo run, 'Endhukante Premanta' announced initially for May made it to the screens in early June- such was the impact of 'Gabbar Singh'.
Meanwhile 'Julai's postponement has turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Telugu producers of Ajith Kumar-starrer 'David Billa' who were planning to release the film big in AP. Some of the theatres which were to screen 'Julai' are making way to 'David Billa'.
Coming to 'Eega', with families thronging to theatres in full-flow from Sunday, the flying juggernaut is sure to rein supreme for another week until and unless a film which will be sound in all departments gives competition to the Makhii of all-time.
