'Shiva Thandavam' caught in storm After producer Natti Kumar lodged a complaint with the Regional Censor Board in Hyderabad recently on grounds of Vikram and Jagapathi Babu-starrer 'Shiva Thandavam' is promoted as a straight Telugu film, the news has kicked of a storm.
However, adding more fuel to the feud, some producers agitated as soon as C Kalyan, presenter of the movie in Telugu, got an approval from Film Chamber Of Commerce which declared that the film is indeed a straight Telugu film.
C Kalyan, who is also the president of south Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, has approached the Regional Censor Board for its certification claiming it to be a straight Telugu film.
Objecting to it, Natti Kumar, who is known to share a bad equation with Kalyan, urged the board by stating that Kalyan is cheating by which he could evade entertainment tax of 12.5% causing a loss to the exchequer.
'C Kalyan has filed an affidavit with Film Chamber stating that the film is a low-budget fare and has been shot in AP predominantly, one of the norms of the board for it to be given a clearance as a Telugu film.
Being a highly influential person, he got the publicity clearance certificate from the Chamber and it will now go to Censors for the certification.
However, it remains to been seen how Censor Board views the film since Natti Kumar has already registered a complaint,' said a source who is closely associated with the Chamber.
Produced by UTV in Tamil, the film has obtained an 'A' certificate from the Regional Censor Board in Chennai and the same should be applied when it releases as a dubbed version.
Depending on the outcome after Censor reviews the film in Hyderabad, 'Shiva Thandavam' may hit the screens in Telugu on October 4 or 5 instead of the earlier date- September 28. The Tamil version is on time.
Meanwhile, Kalyan said that he is confident about the movie and will be releasing the film 'solo' without any competition in early Oct.
The film is releasing on a large canvas in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. While in TN alone it will be showed in 410 screens (including 53 screens of Chennai), Kerala will be housing 80 screens for the release.
Co-starring Anushka Shetty and Amy Jackson in pivotal roles, the action entertainer which sees Vikram in dual roles is wielded by AL Vijay who earlier directed 'Nanna'. Laxmi Rai is also playing a significant role in the film whose audio track is composed by GV Prakash.
