Review: CGR- a feast for Pawan's fans The much-awaited film of the power star of Tollywood, Pawan Kalyan is out! And the verdict is that Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu is just the kind of film the star's fans have been waiting for! It's a good watch for all those who love films with political scripts.
Director Puri Jagganadh provides the perfect platform for Pawan Kalyan to dole out 'punch' dialogues and of course, the good script on the current political scenario, are enough for Pawan's fans to queue up for tickets.
Pawan Kalyan (Mechanic Rambabu) fights for people in the state and can go to any place and any extent to help them. The movie's first frame is a clash between two different communities.
The fight as seen in the advertisements is foiled by Pawan Kalyan. The actual story starts from here. The fight is conspired by Kota (Jawahar Naidu), ex-Chief Minister of the state to check present Chief Minister, Nasser (Chandrasekhar Reddy).
Now enters the pretty lass Tamannah (Ganga) who works as a lens woman and gives Rambabu the chance to be a reporter. After this, Rambabu goes to public as reporter Rambabu.
Prakash Raju (Rana Naidu) son of Kota, who wants to enter politics, is arrested for murder. Reporter Rambabu is behind his arrest.
What happens next after Prakash Raju releases from jail forms the remaining part of the story.
The politically-charged climax, which shows scores of Rambabu supporters on the screen resembles the sea of people that gathered for the Telangana March at Necklace road. The movie rocks and the movie buffs will not regret watching the film.
Each frame in the film is a high current wire. Puri's dialogues and comic roles of Bhrahmanandam and Ali stand out'the best so far, perhaps. The background scores of Manisharma reminds you of Chiru's Tagore.
As usual, the film has powerful and hilarious lines by the power star. One of them goes something like'Ee madya pellillu petakulu avutunnai..Nagarjuna,Pawan kalayan, Prakash Raj pellillu example!
where Pawan impeccably imitates scenes from actors' real life like Nagarjuna, Prakash Raj and his own real life!
The most comic scene is perhaps the 'Ganga Ongodu'. Pawan also inspires the young with his dialogues like 'movie kosam, girlfriends' kosam edaiana chestaru..saraina nayakudini choosukoraa?'.
The film also shows some political leaders. The audience go berserk, can be seen howling and screaming when Nazar appears as YSR on screen.
YS Jagan's picture appeared once and Nazar as a Chief minister reminds you of our chief minister late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Rana Naidu's character resembles that of KCR and the lady with him reminds one of as actress-turned-politician Vijayasanthi.
It's different film from Puri Jagannadh, who seems to be moving away from his trademark punch dialogues and racy screenplays. He has conveyed his story effectively in the backdrop of media.
Comedy becomes a part of screenplay and the movie is sans vulgarity. The film has a lot of references to the current politics in the state and Puri cleverly makes sure not to throw any political agenda.
Pawan Kalyan is in great form and he is at ease in his role. He's at his best during emotionally charged up scenes which require him to deliver lengthy dialogues.
His modulation for SriSri and Tilaks dialogues bring more credibility to the scene. His stature and persona are an integral part of the characterisation and he should be commended for taking up such a role after Gabbar Singh.
Tamannah has a meatier role in first half but is limited in second half. Music is average at best and Mani disappoints with BGM. It doesn't elevate the mood of certain scenes.
Editing is good and production values are decent considering the movie was shot in record time. Every commercial film has a certain tradeoff when it deals with a social message and Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu lacks the intellectual depth which is expected from such films.
The film lacks the intensity which films like Oke okkadu and Leader had, except for the pre-climax scene that has Pawan Kalyan delivering a 4 minute tailor-made speech.
All said and done, Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu is a treat for Pawan Kalyan's fans. There's so much to cheer about when Pawan Kalyan's off screen persona is brought alive on big screen.
It's a win-win situation all the way for the power star who has packed in enough action to convert his movie into a blockbuster hit!
