Tamanna on a roll with CGR's success The most sought-after actress now, Tamanna is reprising Sridevi's role in 'Himmatwala'. Of late, she has been doing films with 'Mega' heroes- 'Badrinath' with Bunny, 'Racha' with Ram Charan and in her latest film she teamed up with 'Power Star' in 'CGR'.
With a guffaw, she says, 'It just happened. Things just fell into place and it is not planned. I'm fortunate to work with all of them. I'd love to act with all the stars.'
The doe-eyed beauty who debuted with 'Chand Sa Roshan Chehra' in 2005 has done 25 films in a span of seven years. She straddles across Telugu, Tamil and Hindi filmdoms with ease.
Talk has it that she turned down an offer to work with Mahesh. Is it true? 'I couldn't do that film because I didn't have enough dates. Who wouldn't want to team up with Mahesh?'
Veering towards her latest release which has been in the news for wrong reasons, in which she essayed a tomboy role, she says, 'I'm glad that I'm not being typecast.
My role is deglamourised and it has machismo. I am glad I get to play different roles.' However, the pretty gal prefers to play it safe when it comes to a controversy.
So what's her take on the so-called Telangana sentiment in CGR? Is she aware of it? 'Sorry I can't comment on it.'Talking about her co-star Pawan Kalyan, she says, 'I haven't seen much of Pawan off the sets as he retreats into his caravan after the shot.
I haven't seen such an actor before. He is simple and a good human being. It was great working with him.' She is making big in Hindi cinema.
So, ask her will she continue in south? 'I've been working here since six years. Even my spoken English is influenced by Telugu. That is my association with south. I stay here.'
Quiz her about hiatus in Kollywood, pat comes reply, 'It is just an hour if I catch a flight. I'm always ready to do if I get a good role there.'
Considering she converses in chaste Telugu during the interview, does she have plans to dub for her roles in Telugu? She replies, 'I'd love to dub for my voice in Telugu. Due to lack of time, I couldn't dub for this film. I hope I'll do it for my next film.'
Ask her about recently declared Nandi Awards. Does she have any regrets for missing it? 'Though I was nominated, frankly I didn't expect it.
Nayanatara is my friend and she deserves it for her role of Sita. I don't do a film for awards and if they come they'd be like a pat on my back.'
She was seen consuming alcohol in 'CGR'. What's her take on consuming liquor in real life? She retorts,'It was just a scene.
The disclaimer in the beginning of the film says it all that all the characters are fictitious. It has nothing to do with my real life. I'm a teetotaler. If I commit a murder in a film, is there a need of experience in real life?
Common, it is just a film and everybody knows that it is a drama,' she adds, 'The film boasts unity which we need a lot. A director can't make a film given restrictions. A movie is just a source of entertainment and actors do their job.'
The film opened up a discussion on ordinary girls and extraordinary girls. Which category does she belong to?
She replies, 'Ordinary or extraordinary is a matter of perception. I think I'm extraordinary and I'd like to be called extraordinary. It is all about how you look at yourself.'
Reminiscing memorable moments while working for 'CGR' she says, 'The whole film was wrapped up at a fast pace. Every moment is memorable. The cat fight scenes between Gabriel and me were nice.
I like the 'Extraordinary'' song which showcases me as a classical dancer that I haven't portrayed earlier. Also because it says that I'm extraordinary.'
Point out her that co-stars (Allu Arjun tied the knot post 'Badrinath', NTR got married after 'Oosaravelli' and Ram Charan walked down the aisle with Upasna after 'Racha') who worked with her are tying knot soon after working with her. Will it work for Prabhas, her co-star in 'Rebel'? 'But Prabhas is not yet hitched.'
Female centric films like 'The Dirty Picture', 'Kahaani' are ruling the roost in Hindi. Does she ready to act in such films in south? 'I'll do if and only if I feel that is commercially viable.'
The pretty lass says she is doing two films which is a remake of 'Vettai' in Telugu opposite Naga Chaitanya and the other is 'Himmatwala'.
'I'll let you know about the other projects soon. I'm just working for two films simultaneously. I'm balancing my life and career.'
