Bus Stop creates controversy
Even before the dust could settle around controversial films like A Woman in Brahmanism and Denikaina Ready, yet another movie has joined the list.
The film, Bus Stop, starring actors Prince, Sri Divya, Rao Ramesh, Sai Kumar and Hasika, hit screens across the State on Sunday but failed to register a good opening.
Revolving around the current generation and their lifestyle, the film was poorly received by the city youngsters who stated that there were objectionable scenes in the film.
A few student and youth wing organisations staged a dharna in front of a theatre screening the film besides burning effigies of Censor Board members who cleared the film.
Around 10:30 am, the SFI and DYFI members rushed to Sandhya theatre located in RTC cross roads and stalled the screening of Bus Stop for a few minutes.
They tore the posters, banners and hoardings in the premises. The police, however, rushed to the spot and took 15 members into custody.
"There are some objectionable scenes which send wrong message to youngsters. The director of the film has abused the relationship of a father and daughter,' the protestors alleged.
The protestors also warned that they would intensify the stir against the screening the film in the State. Furthermore, they demanded that the director remove the objectionable content from the film.
It is learnt that the Censor Board had initially recommended 45 cuts in the film.
However, producer Bellamkonda Suresh approached a Review Committee, complaining about the illegitimacy of such recommendations following which the Review Committee suggested five cuts for the film. The youth-centric has been directed by Maruthi of Ee Rojullu fame.
