Shriya pin hopes on 'Pavithra' Janardhan Maharshi who has received praise from all corners for his venture 'Devasthanam' last year, has roped in Shriya Saran for the lead role in 'Pavithra'.
The film has already completed 60 per cent of the shoot till now and is expected to be wrapped by January-end with a song to be shot in February.
The unit with lead actors Shriya, Sai Kumar, Roja, and the technical team met scribes speaking about the film and their characters. Sai Kumar said, 'When Maharshi narrated the script at first, I said to him that he is taking a brave step.
He replied by saying that he's just letting the truth out. I'm playing a politician in the movie after 'Samanyudu' and 'Prasthanam'.'
He added, 'I was apprehensive about the lead role, but after having shot few scenes with Shriya, I found out that she fitted the bill perfectly.'
Maharshi said that film is compilation of incidents that he read over period of time. 'It's a sincere and honest attempt though it will be presented in a bold manner.'
Going the traditional way by sporting a yellow saree, Shriya who looked every inch of a Telugu girl, said that though the subject is sensitive it is being dealt in a mature way.
'My character is honest with innocence attached to it. It has been designed in a manner that it will connect to the audience of today.'
Also seen at the do were actors AVS, Roja, Kaushik, Chintu besides producers K Sadhak Kumar and G Maheshwara Reddy and cameraman Suresh. MM Srilekha is composing the audio theme of the film.
