Venkatesh all praise for Mahesh Venkatesh is the one of those few actors in the South who is not afraid to speak his mind. He spoke out on his latest release, upcoming films, his son Arjun and lot more.
'It's a good start for Telugu film industry this year. Since SVSC has opened to rave reviews across the globe, it's time for writers to look for novel plots and stories and I wish many more clean family entertainers will make their way,' Venky starts off.
'There is a huge demand for the tickets of the film', he feels, 'perhaps the audiences have prepared their minds to watch this film at least once on big screens since the time trailer has been unveiled. Audiences who have been staying away from theatres for a while are all visiting theatres.'
Recalling the memories of working with Mahesh Babu, he says, 'Each and every moment with Mahesh is unforgettable for me. I share a rare camaraderie with him which helped us a lot during the making of the film.
Many have appreciated the 'flower-pot' scene. I personally like the interval scene, terrace scene, climax and especially the scene where Anjali is busy meeting the prospective groom and I call her 'aye' in the middle of everything.'
Mahesh, Prakash Raj and he hardly go to work in the film. Then, how does he get money to give it to Mahesh. He grins, 'It's a film and one should not look for logic. One can get money even if he/she doesn't have a job.'
Veering towards his attachment with his elder brother and producer Suresh Babu, he avers, 'My role in SVSC is so close to that of my brother (Suresh Babu) in real life. He is shy and can't move freely when people are around him.
He is so timid that he can't receive people. In fact, he doesn't know how to respond when someone conveys birthday greetings to him.'
Talking about his equation with his doting father and legendary producer D Ramanaidu, he shares, 'We have great love, affection and respect towards Dad (Ramanaidu). Our situation resembles the story of 'SVSC'.
Dad also calls both my brother Suresh Babu and me as Peddodu and Chinnodu rather than calling with names. Hence, I got connected to this story right from its inception."
Comparing the working styles of Mahesh with him, he divulges, 'Mahesh is very committed and deeply involves into his role. He always thinks about his characterization and dialogues.
Also I'm floored with his comic timing. Whereas I think less about my role, I'm a quick grabber and did all shots in one or two takes."
Ask him what has persuaded him to sign a multi-starrer project which is directed by a one-movie old director. He chuckles and continues, 'I'm always open to all kind of roles and never hesitate to be part of multi-starrer films.
Two things have attracted me - director Srikanth Addala's smile and the other one is its story. I got connected to the story when Srikanth had narrated me it and gave my nod three years ago.'
Since it is a multi-starrer film, any space and screen time issues that arose between the two superstars? He gently retorts, 'It's a movie and everything is based on the story where Mahesh and I played the characters. There is no scope for such issues.'
Commenting on Dil Raju's statement during the audio launch that sons of Venkatesh and Mahesh (Arjun and Gautham) to do SVSC's remake 20 years later, Venkatesh says, "I can't say how their emotions would be after 20 years but I assure you that Arjun will be raised with good manners and habits."
Speaking about his upcoming movies, ''Shadow' is nearing completion where a song and a scene have to be shot. It's an action-revenge drama where I'll be seen doing high-voltage action scenes after a while.
I'll sport a stylish look in this film. Though it's a mass-entertainer it has been crafted such that families would also like it. The makers are planning to release it in April.
My next would be the Telugu remake of 'Bol Bachchan' where I'll be seen alongside young actor Ram. My character will be macho and entertaining. The script work for Swami Vivekananda film is currently underway.'
Veering towards his free-time activities, the 52-year-old actor says, 'I spend most of my time in spiritual activities and read books related to it. Yesterday (January 13), I cooked food for my family and we all enjoyed relishing it.'
