Producer bets big on 'Chammak Challo' Producer DS Rao, who has produced films like Nani-starrer 'Pilla Zamindar' and Manchu Manoj's 'Mr Nookayya', lost his cool and turned emotional at the platinum disc-function of his upcoming film 'Chammak Challo' which is awaiting the release on Feb 15. The movie is directed by acclaimed director Neelakanta.
Speaking at the event, DS Rao said, 'It's a tough period for producers. The production costs have increased drastically. Even though a producer pours in money for his project, he turns into a slave.
A product worth Rs 10 is being sold for Rs 100 and we have no other options but to buy it. We (producers) are being robbed. We can't speak out on such things as by then we already would have invested in it.'
He added, 'Though I troubled Neelakanta, he didn't trouble me. I'm looking forward to the success of 'Chammak Challo' and if it fails to click at the box-office, I will stop producing films.'
Reacting to his comments, APFCC president Tammareddy Bharadwaja said, 'I understand the situation of DS Rao. But I blame the producers for such situations. They should be alert and active in order to avert such incidents.'
Meanwhile, DS Rao's upcoming films- 'Love Cycle' starring Sri and Reshma and Nara Rohit-Monal Gajjar starrer 'Lover'-are currently under production phase.
