Support small films: Dasari 'Many aspirants enter the industry wanting to become actors. While some achieve it; others who don't, settle in the production departments. Every hero in south industry at some point of time knocked on the doors of directors for that one chance. People who utilise it cross boundaries.
When I joined the industry, there were people who were better than me, but I got an opportunity and here I am. One should make full use of the opportunity that he/she gets,' said director Dasari Narayana Rao.
He was speaking at the platinum disc function of the film 'Oke Okka Chance', directed by Welding Srinu, in the city.
Dasari was the special guest at the ceremony, which witnessed attendance in the form of other personalities like producers Basi Reddy and Vasu and Venugopal.
The veteran filmmaker said that there were 72 films which had been certified by CBFC but waiting for theatres. 'Small films need time before the word-of-mouth spreads. Even if they get 15 to 30 per cent occupancy in the first few days, people will spread the news.
However, a film's prospect these days is limited to the first three days' collection; and, if it fails to get strong opening, it is being replaced in the next week,' Dasari said.
Asking media to support small films, he commented: 'Media, irrespective of stars, should try and give ample coverage for small films.'
