Orugallu recreated in Hyderabad The muhurtham shot of much publicised movie 'Rudramadevi' was filmed at the historic Thousand Pillars Temple in Warangal town on Thursday.
The first shot of the film, produced and directed by Gunasekhar, was filmed on the Shiva Linga of the temple in the presence of Anushka Shetty who is playing the role of Rudrama Devi, the 13th century queen of the Kakatiya dynasty and Daggubati Rana who is doing the role of Chalukya Veerabhadra.
The regular shooting of the film will commence from April. For the film, 13th century Warangal, called Orugallu is being recreated in Hyderabad.
'Rudramadevi' is going to be India's first telescopic 3D film, the director noted adding that he has been working on the script for the past ten years and the film will be on par with the expectations of the audience.
'Anushka and Rana are learning horse riding and sword fight to give their best for the film,' he revealed.
'We have consulted several historians in Warangal and outside to ascertain the historical facts so that the film will be true depiction of past history,' asserted Gunasekhar.
'This is a big character for me and I am excited to do it. We are going by the vision of the director,' Anushka told press persons. When asked about her next film she said, 'I need to complete this film first before thinking of other films,' said the actress.
Talking about preferring negative roles, Rana said,'I wish to do hero and villain roles,' quoting a dialogue of Kamal Hassan 'Nantha villain nantha hero (I'm the villain and I'm the hero).' Later, the film crew offered prayers at the temple.
Gunasekhar informed that ace-technicians like composer Ilayaraja, art director Thota Tharani, cinematographer Ajay Vincent, VFX supervisor Kamal Kannan and costume designer Neeta Lulla are already on board for the project.
