Lakshmi almost went bankrupt Lakshmi Manchu is finally a relieved lady. Releasing her ambitious venture, 'Gundello Godari,' last week, after overcoming every obstacle, the producer-turned-actress is delighted with the response towards the flick from audience and from critics.
She was jubilant at the film's success meet held in Hyderabad. She revealed that she was out of money to even organise the triple platinum disc function of the audio that was held last Wednesday. 'Dad insisted me to go for a disc function and said that he will sponsor it.
However, I did conduct the function. I had butterflies in my stomach before the film released. I'm still unable to overcome the fact that the film is a success and that audience is lauding the effort.
Our house is one tensed arena where everyone is associated with films. But the success of the film has given us sweet memories.'
Lakshmi recalled how her younger brother Manoj was by her side throughout the journey of the film. 'I was apprehensive about the films prospects at the box-office. I feared bankruptcy and told the same to Manoj.
But he always had cheering words and said that if the film fails to meet its intended expectations, he will sign two more films to bail me out,' she said and added, 'I still need to clear the debts for the Tamil version which releases next week.'
She also cited 'Gundello Godari' as an example of her thinking pattern. 'People say that Lakshmi is international and her accent tells it. Yes, I think globally, but act locally and my film exemplifies it.'
Also present at the do included the cast and crew of the film, comprising cameraman Palani Kumar, art director Murali, director Kumar Nagendra and actors Taapsee Pannu and Sundeep Kishan.
Actor Manoj and director B Jaya were the special invitees. Taapsee who didn't charge a penny for the film received praise from Jaya. 'She proved the value of friendship.'
Pouring compliments on Lakshmi, Director Jaya stated, 'No big director would have taken a risk that she took. In the dual roles as a producer and actor, she was bang on.'
Manoj said that the family is proud of what akka did. 'If Vishnu, dad, and I score hits, we rejoice it and if we fail to, we reflect what went wrong and move onto our next ventures.
Dad was concerned that akka took everything on herself for the past one year and with the film's victory finally, it's a totally different atmosphere at home,' opined Manoj.
While Taapsee said that she will experiment more with her roles, Sundeep sounded happy with the way audience embraced a different kind of film.
