Lawrence alleges shabby treatment at Tirumala Film actor, director and choreographer Raghava Lawrence has alleged that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) gave him shabby treatment to him and his family members when they visited the temple on Monday.
Coming out of the temple, he said, 'The staff on duty in the sanctum sanctorum treated us like dogs. The staff pushed us.
They did not spare even my mother who underwent a surgery very recently. My wife was shoved by two male staffers. Had anyone done it outside the temple, I would have killed them.
This very staff gave a red carpet welcome to Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa, who killed thousands of Tamils, when he visited the temple recently but are treating the citizens of our own country like dirt. I am pained very much and leaving the shrine with dissatisfaction.''
TTD clarifies: Responding to the charge, the TTD claimed in a press release that they treated Raghava Lawrence as per the VIP Protocol. He comes under the List-2 VIPs and the administration allotted him the ticket and he had darshan in that slot.
According to the regulations adopted recently, the TTD said, there are three categories of VIP Break Darshan: List-1, List-2 and List-General. Lawrence and his family members were treated on a par with other devotees in List-2 for VIP Break Darshan.
