NTR spoils Venky's party Regardless of the star power it's getting difficult even for a big producer to release his production unlike five years ago, especially after another star's film which released a few days ago garners positive talk at the box-office.
If films 'Julayi' and 'Dhamarukham' had to be postponed from the initial intended date after films like 'Eega' and 'Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu' opened to hit talk last year, NTR-starrer 'Baadshah' left a similar impact on superstar Venkatesh-starrer 'Shadow'.
It was set to release on a grand note this Friday, but 'Baadshah' which released last Friday in 1,550 screens across the globe with lions share in AP, managing to win the audience and critics heart despite being dubbed as a sequel to 'Dookudu', spoiled the party of Venky's return to action.
'Everything was chalked out by 'Shadow' producer Paruchuri Prasad to give his production a massive release this Friday. Add to it, since the day happens to be Ugadi he was expecting it to rake in big moolah over the weekend, but 'Baadshah's humongous opening left the producer no other option but to postpone it to April 26,' said a source.
Nagarjuna-starrer 'Greekuveerudu' which was to release on April 19 is rescheduled to release on April 26 thereby transcending to a box-office fight between Venky and Nagarjuna, industries biggest superstars.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that 'Shadow' failed to make it on the original date. It was to hit the cinema halls this Sankranthi, but as a token of gesture for the multi-starrer 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu' which had Venky himself in the lead besides Mahesh Babu, it had to step aside. Later the production unit said that the film will release in the last week of March, a word never kept.
Having exceeded the budget already and taking into account the producer's last release, 'Naa Ishtam', which sank without a trace at the box-office, producer Prasad's troubles, certainly are growing bigger day by day. One only hopes that the film's release will solve his problems.
