Big stars bunk Nandi awards
Hyderabad: Many popular Tollywood artistes did not turn up for the government organised Nandi Cine Awards presentation function held at Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam on Thursday.
None of the top heroes or heroines was seen at the function. Only the award winners who included Mahesh Babu and Nagarjuna attended to receive their awards.
From among the heroines, Nayanatara, who received the best actress award turned up. As most of the top heroines of the day are not Telugus, no one expected them to be present.
But, majority of the character artistes, comedians and other artistes gave a miss leaving hundreds of movie buffs disappointed.
Strangely, none from the NTR family attended the function where a national award instituted against the name of legendary actor was presented to Bollywood Baadshah Amitabh Bachchan.
Even Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari has not attended the ceremony. It is exactly not known whether the State government has not invited her or she herself chose to stay away.
Popular Telugu star and Union Minister of State for Tourism, Chiranjeevi who was in the city yesterday and participated in Ugadi celebrations at Raj Bhavan, was not seen around.
Only producer Allu Aravind came to receive the award for the film 100 per cent love. City MLA Jayasudha too was absent. The sole attraction of the function was Amitabh Bachchan.
Some of the artistes have gone to participate in the celebrations organised by T Subbarami Reddy.
