Genelia: In blissfull matrimony She has made her mark in five film industries, has modelled for various campaigns and has also hosted a television show. Starting at a young age, actress Genelia Deshmukh has come a long way.
The actress moved to Mumbai to pursue her career and last year tied the knot with co-star Riteish Deshmukh.
Though she has taken a leisurely break post marriage, she maintains that not much has changed since. In the city for a brief day, City Express caught up with the actress who tells us more.
Having lived in Hyderabad for 10 years, the actress though is still mesmerized by the city of Nawabs. 'Hyderabad is beautiful. It's a pleasure to come here,' she shares.
First acting role
Acting for me didn't happen by plan. I stumbled upon the opportunity after shooting for a commercial. From then on however, it's been no turning back. I don't believe in taking up too many films at once because I feel I can't do justice that way. I never planned this career. It just kept growing after my first chance.
Favourite Mantra
For an actor, successes and failure are part and parcel of life. One has to learn from your mistakes and move on. In my case, I've always had the emotional backing of loved ones.
You make your own rules and break them too, if necessary. Sometimes your decisions work wonders. Some of my most cherished experiences in life have been because of the films I've taken up.
Break ke baad
I have not signed on any new film yet. I am enjoying my life. I was doing movies in five different industries. However, in North, everyone thinks that I am doing just one movie a year. I started my career at a very young age and worked for 10 years and all 365 days without taking any break.
Next up
Last seen with husband Riteish in the rom-com Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, Genelia will star in Anees Bazmee's It's my life and zombie comedy Rock the Shaadi opposite Abhay Deol. She had signed both the films before marriage.
