Cinema tickets up by Rs 10-20 Hyderabad: Cinema tickets in the state will cost more right from Saturday. The hike ranges from Rs 10 to Rs 20.
The State Government on Friday issued orders (GO 100) reclassifying cinema theatres and enhancing the rates of admission. Certain conditions were stipulated for theatres, multiplexes for issue of fresh licenses and renewal of licenses. The new rates came into effect immediately.
The GO was issued based on the recommendations of the committee which was constituted by the Government as per the direction of the High Court for the task.
The Government has classified areas into the five grades for purposes of fixing the rates of admission into the cinema theatres (Grade I'Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, grade II all municipal corporations, grade III selection grade municipalities, special grade municipalities and first grade municipalities, grade IV second grade municipalities and third grade municipalities, grade V nagara panchayats and gram panchayats).
Based on the classification of grades, the Government enhanced ceiling on rates of admission into highest and lowest classes of cinema theatres. The seats in the lowest class should not be less than 20 per cent of the total seats. The old theatres constructed prior to 2005 should within three months put in place the additional facilities in order to charge the enhanced rates.
