Road rage: Ram Charan roughs up techies Hyderabad: Two software engineers were roughed up by actor Ram Charan Teja and his body guards in the city on Sunday. Teja is the son of Union Minister of State for Tourism K Chiranjeevi.
Banjara Hills police made the victims sit in the police station for more than an hour and in the meantime the victims and the police were said to have received several phone calls from influential people.
Finally, the victims opted not to lodge a case and left the police station. Police sources said, the incident occurred near GVK Mall on Road No 1 in Banjara Hills in the afternoon.
The victims ' Phanish of Kondapur and Kalyan of Uppal ' both software engineers ' were on their way to Panjagutta in their Maruti car. They stopped their car as there was a red signal.
Exactly at this time, Ram Charan, accompanied by a female companion, occupying a Land Rover came from behind and the driver began buzzing the horn continuously annoying others.
The software engineers shouted at the driver to wait since there was a red signal, the sources said. When the signal showed green, the software engineers drove their car ahead and Ram Charan's driver brought the vehicle in such a way that the software engineers had to stop their small car.
In the meantime, another car reached there in a hurry and five `bouncers' jumped out of the car. It was then the actor Ram Charan came out of his car and all the six including the actor roughed up the software engineers, police sources said.
After the actor and his body guards left the place, the victims reached Panjagutta police station with bruises to lodge a complaint. But the police turned them away saying it was not their jurisdiction and asked the victims to go to Banjara Hills police station.
As victims waiting for more than one hour. They even approached the assistant commissioner of police E Shankar Reddy. The ACP also asked them to wait.
In the meantime, the victims as well as the police received several phone calls from 'influential people' after which the victims opted not to lodge a case and left the place in despair. Banjara Hills Inspector P Murali Krishna said they did not receive any complaint against Ram Charan and, therefore, the question of registering a case did not arise.
