SVR, Bhanumathi to get rare honour posthumously SV Ranga Rao, P Bhanumathi and Allu Ramalingaiah get a prime place in the 100 years of Indian cinema as the Centre would be releasing postal stamps in memory of their services to Telugu film industry.
The stars of yesteryears figure in the list of all-time greats of Indian cinema in whose memory postal stamps will be released next month. The announcement was jointly made by Movie Artistes Association (MAA) and Telugu Film Producers Council here today.
SV Ranga Rao was known for anti-hero roles in mythological films and character roles in social films. He won international acclaim for his role in Narthanasala for the role of Keechaka.
P Bhanumathi is a multi-faceted personality. She was an imposing artiste, singer, music director, producer, director besides being a short story writer and the owner of Bharani Studios. He songs and portrayal of lead role in Malleswari has been enjoyed by over six decades.
Allu Ramalingiah, who started as a comedian has excelled in many roles from a juinior pundit in Mayabazar to a weighty role in Shankarabharanam and a complex rolw in Muthyala Muggu, he is remembered as a verstile artiste. He is also the father-in-law of union minister K Chiranjeevi.
MAA and Producers Council have also recommended the names of Saluri Rajeshwara Rao and Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu for the coveted honour.
