Ram Charan's PSOs withdrawn With pressure mounting on the Police to take action in the street brawl involving the personal security officers of film actor Ram Charan Teja who had beaten up two IT employees on road number 1 Banjara Hills last week, the Intelligence Security Win (ISW) has withdrawn the two PSOs and a thorough probe has been ordered by the Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma.
'The ISW has already withdrawn the gunmen given to Ram Charan. I have directed the DCP west zone to enquire into the incident and give a detailed report. Appropriate action will be taken as soon as the report is received,' said Anurag Sharma.
Meanwhile, sources in the ISW said the DCP Sudheer Babu's report has now become crucial. Action would be taken against the gunmen if they were found guilty of violation of rules.
Asked about misuse of gunman given to Minister Mukesh Goud's son Vikram Goud sometime back, the police commissioner said that the complainants did not say anything in their statement to this effect.
'It is not possible to take action against anyone in the absence of the victim's statement,' Anurag Sharma said.
The PSOs given to union minister K Chiranjeevi's actor son Ram Charan Teja and Vikram Goud were used to rough up innocent people. But police bosses did not take any action on the pretext that the complainants were not forthcoming to give statement against the PSOs.
Ram Charan was provided with two PSOs by the ISW, which gives security for union ministers, Chief Minister, Home Minister and some other VIPs depending on the threat perception.
The ISW normally provides security cover after assessing the threat perception. However, in case of Ram Charan the ISW officials promptly gave security cover on payment basis allegedly without making an assessment of the threat perception.
Two PSOs Afsar and Anji Reddy were attached to Ram Charan when he along with his private security guards and the two ISW constables allegedly roughed up two software employees Phanish and Kalyan at Banjara Hills on May 5 over a petty issue.
Police bosses chose to look the other way as the victims did not lodge a complaint for obvious reasons. However, after the images of the assault were made public by the media, officials had to act and withdraw the PSOs.
