Troubled times for Charan Nothing seems to be going right for actor Ram Charan, professionally and personally. After his image took a beating locally and nationally owing to the road tiff he had with techies few weeks ago in Hyderabad, the actor's maiden Bollywood venture, 'Zanjeer', is yet to clear its legal hurdles to make it to the screens this June.
If it was the writer's duo of Salim-Javed who initially expressed apprehensions about the modern-day remake before demanding their due since the remake rights belong to them as it is their body of work, the sudden complaint of Sumeet and Puneet who said that they terminated the contract that gave Amit Mehra (their brother/remake producer) the remake rights in the first place citing non-payment of dues, has put the film's promotions in jeopardy.
Hearing a plea filed by them, the apex court last month has ordered the arbitrator to complete the arbitration proceedings within the next six weeks. However, Mumbai circles indicate that nothing substantial has emerged from both the parties for the film to go on a promotional spree.
It was in the last week of March that Charan pointed out that 'Zanjeer' and his Telugu film 'Yevadu' will release in a space of four to five weeks. While he said he will come up with a statement on which film releases first, there is still no 'clear picture' of which among the two will release first even after 45 days of Charan's announcement.
However, the chances of 'Yevadu' arriving first are brighter since it is in the last leg of shooting in Switzerland currently and that there are no such legal hassles over it like 'Zanjeer'.
While 'Zanjeer' made on a whopping budget of more than Rs 60 crore is in post-production right now, it remains to be seen whether the film which has been in the news for being actor Sanjay Dutt's most prestigious project, will arrive anytime soon and if it does will the road brawl and the follow-up press conference that led Ram Charan to earn a bad press all over, will have telling effect on the film?
