Actor Nikhil thrash engineering students Actor Nikhil Siddharth seems to be emulating Ram Charan Tej. He landed in a controversy when his bodyguards allegedly beat up four engineering students at St Peter's College at Pet Basheerabad on the city's outskirts on Tuesday.
The provocation for the bashing, it is said, that the students had roughed up his younger brother Rohit Siddharth. Cases were registered against the four students but no arrests were made.
Rohit (17), a first-year student of Malla Reddy Engineering College, had a tiff with four of his senior students _ Harikrishna, Lakshman, Lakshmikanth Reddy and Krishna Reddy - all studying the second-year course in the same college.
On Tuesday, the five boys went to St Peter's College to write an examination which was to begin at 2 pm.
At around 1.30 pm, the four boys who were in the canteen, allegedly called Rohit there where there was an altercation between them, and Rohit was roughed up and beaten.
Rohit then called his brother to the college and Nikhil went there along with a group of 15 to 20 men and bashed up the four students and also created a ruckus in the college, disturbing the examination being held then.
The college management informed the police who defused the situation.
'We have registered cases under Sections 506 and 323 of IPC against the four boys basing on a complaint. However, no one has been arrested and we are still looking into the matter as it may also be a case of ragging,' said Syed Rafeeq, ACP, Pet Basheerabad.
The actor, however, denied the charge and said that he was at the college merely to check up on his brother's condition.
'My brother was roughed up. It was a police matter and the college management took proper action after the incident. In fact, my brother could not write his examination because he was injured,' he said.
He brushed aside the incident, saying that it was a silly college matter and that it was not a big issue. However, on pointing out that his brother was injured, he declined to comment.
