Sid's comments draw flak, again Looks like actor Siddharth's bad run at the Tollywood box office is still continuing despite his latest bilingual 'Something Something' having managed to win the hearts of the critics.
While the Tamil version (Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru) is declared a runaway hit in Tamil Nadu, the Telugu version which released two weeks ago (on Chalo Assembly Day) was far away from repeating the same magic.
The actor's comments during the success meet of the Tamil version in Chennai have certainly not gone well with local film buffs.
According to reports, here is the statement of Sid which drew wide-spread flak; 'Family, comical and commercial entertainers of Tamil if dubbed into Telugu will be successful unlike other genres. Telugus generally embrace big hero flicks and love stories. Films aside those genres don't attract much audience.'
Immediately after this statement the actor's Twitter timeline was bombarded with hate messages, as most of his followers demanded an explanation on Telugus not encouraging other genres.
However, the actor was quick to rebut and said that he is what today because of the Telugu industry.
'I'm not the kind of person to forget what I have got from Telugu cinema. Not now. Not ever. Please ignore these ill motivated, untrue rumours.
Success has its own enemies. It's a shame people will go to any lengths to bring a man down. Truth will prevail. Always. Thank you (sic),' the actor tweeted, putting an end to the controversy.
