Samaikya storm hits Toofan Hyderabad: Ramcharan Teja's mega flick Toofan, which is the dubbed version of his Hindi movie- 'Zanzeer' ran into rough weather as the activists of United Andhra have stalled the release of the movie across Seemandhra region in protest against his father and Union Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi's stance on the bifurcation issue.
While the banners and flexies of the movie were torn apart in Kadiri of Ananthapur district, the Samaikyandhra JAC has called for the boycott of the film in Tirupati. The situation appeared to be more orless same in several other towns of Seemandhra.
Rattled by the outburst of people's anger, the Reliance Big Entertainment which produced the film, sought the intervention of the High Court on Thursday which has directed the police to provide adequate security for the release of the bilingual film.
Quoting the recent remarks of Chiranjeevi, co-convener of Student JAC Seshadri said that Chiranjeevi was elected as legislator by Tirupati people in 2009 general elections, but did not go with the aspirations of people of his constituency.
'He was elevated as the union minister with the blessings of the people of Tirupati, but his recent proposal that Hyderabad shall be made as a union territory is nothing but favouring the division of the state', Seshadri criticized.
The film, a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan blockbuster of the seventies, was earlier also embroiled in a controversy on whether the script writers of the original (Salim-Javed) would permit its release.
