Mohan Babu suggests cuts for Potugadu Back to production after a gap of three years `Snehageetham' being his last venture -producer Lagadapati Sreedhar is all smiles, as his new production, `Potugadu' is making all the right noises. 'It will be the biggest release in Manoj's career.
As of now 800 screens are confirmed and it may touch 1000 in the days to come. The buzz has been great and it's been a month since any big flick released,' says Sreedhar.
The film is scheduled to hit the cinema halls on Saturday instead of the regular Fridays. Put that to him, he says, 'Content is not expected to be uploaded in screens by Friday morning as computer graphics and other post-production activities are still going on. Distributors too suggested that we release the film on Saturday.'
The song `Pyarge Aagbittaite' from `Govindaya Namaha', a 2012 Kannada blockbuster, attracted the producer to purchase the remake rights.
'I loved the song and waited for the film to release.
After watching the movie, I felt that it had the punch to be remade but I had to wait for almost a year to get the remake rights. We've altered the climax to suit our audience,' he shares.
Sreedhar attributes the success of the film's music to Manoj apart from composer Achchu. 'He is a bundle of talent and is extremely creative. His inputs helped to reach the music where it is today. He dared risky stunts. He will take the tag of Collection King from his dad Mohan babu,' he says.
With four heroines romancing Manoj, Sreedhar says that each girl gets her due in terms of performance.
'Every girl's portions will last around for 20-25 minutes and each of them will take the story forward and are bound to leave impact.' Sreedhar's wife Sirisha believes that film will be a roller-coaster ride for the audience.
'There will never be a moment where one can turn their head on, as they will be hooked to the screen. Even if one leaves the screen, they will be curious to know what prevailed,' says Sirisha who is also the co-producer of the film.
Sreedhar reveals that Mohan Babu has loved the film. 'He watched it on Tuesday and said that I made a good film with Manoj. He suggested minor trimmings which we've implemented,' he says.
Having already announced spate of projects with directors like Linguswamy and Selva Raghavan of late, the director, who believes in the adage confident walking is more successful than confused runningwill monitor how `Potugadu' will be received before going ahead with his next project.
'Selva Raghavan's project will take off in November while Telugu remake of Kannada hit, `Charminar,' might go ahead with another star hero, instead of Naga Chaitanya, who has a packed calendar,' he concludes.
