Review: Kiss - not so stupid The story is also simple as the tagline. An Indian girl settled in USA is branded Ms 'V' by her friends, just because she's a virgin. She lives the life of a caged bird and has been longing for freedom since childhood.
She finally decides to break free and not to compromise anymore. She takes an extreme step and the following events bring a guy into her life. He gives her umpteen reasons to cherish life and live like there is no tomorrow. How the romantic tapestry is cocooned around them forms rest of the story.
In the film, Adivi Sesh takes the mantle of both actor and director. The way he dabbles with these two departments is laudable. He takes a meaty chunk of time to establish the heroine's character and the conventional set-up in which she has grown up.
This brings fragility in her character. Sesh does a good job in the film. Most of the film revolves around the lead pair and they share a fair dose of funny and emotional moments.
When compared to his past outings, Adivi Sesh tries something different this time. He plays a witty thief with killer looks. He gets into the skin of the character and makes it hilarious with his funny lines.
Priya Banerjee steals the show with her innocence and beauty. She is vivacious and her child-like charm is to die for. The supporting cast plays their parts well.
The crackling dialogue and the way Sesh renders it is fun to watch. Some are filled with comic punches and some make you cry. On the whole, they surface the emotional layering of the film.
The score elevates the mood and sets the tone of every scene. It's difficult to imagine the movie without its pulsating background music. The songs Ee Kshanam and the title track outshine other numbers.
Cinematography is good and the aerial shots of San Francisco create a visual panache. The editing is smooth and slick all through the film, but the excess fat in the second half could have been trimmed to make the movie thinner. Few scenes drag like a chewing gum and test your patience.
Kiss is a gently flavoured, soothing savoury, blended in proportions of sugar and other ingredients to make it palatable. The film creates believable characters, but its cliched method of story telling kills it to great extent.
