Piracy forces `AD' release advanced With the whole of Tollywood waking up to the shocking news of 'Attarintiki Daaredhi's' 90-minute high quality footage leaked online even before its theatrical release, it was damage control for the film's producer BSVN Prasad and for the entire fraternity.
With no big releases for the past two months and the industry reeling under severe financial crisis, the Producer's Council, realising a potential danger if the leak spreads, conducted a quick meeting in which the leak of the film was discussed at length.
Producer's Council president Burugapalli Sivaramakrishna said that first half was leaked and that police are on the sentry for the miscreants. 'They took some people into custody and the enquiry is on,' he said.
A visibly upset BVSN Prasad said the online offence is heinous than a crime and whoever committed will be brought to justice. He said that he is left with no options but to release his film on September 27 (Friday) now, he said.
Film Chamber anti-video piracy chairman Rajkumar said that the footage of the film was first uploaded on Sunday at 8 pm. 'As soon as we got to know about it, we alerted our wing.
We met additional DGP (CID)/nodal officer for video piracy for State, Krishna Prasad, on Monday morning and briefed about the whole scenario.
He extended his help and ordered SP's and commissioners of the districts to look into the fraud seriously. As of now there is no source which holds the footage,' he said.
Rajkumar added that they are identifying the sources form where the leak was out. 'Film's footage is given to units who do re-recording, DTS, and other post production activities.
Police and our wing will carry investigation at each place where the movement of footage took place,' he said and added, 'The film's content has been converted to CDs and DVDs and people who've resorted to such things will also be booked under IT act, Copyright act, IPC 420 and AP Exhibition of Films and TV act. The IP address of people who have downloaded the content is also being traced.'
Rajkumar further said there will be a standard operating procedure at places where a film goes for post production from now onwards. When quizzed about whether the lead hero, Pawan Kalyan, will issue a statement on the whole issue, Prasad said, 'He is not in town, but he is taking a stock of the situation.'
