Attarintiki...piracy gang nabbed The Krishna district police have arrested a five-member gang including an APSP constable on a complaint of circulating `Atharintiki Daaredi' movie piracy CDs.
Krishna district SP J Prabhakara Rao told media persons that they have also seized a couple of piracy CDs of the film. They have booked cases against the accused under the IT and Copyrights Acts.
The Krishna district police have received a complaint from P V S N Prasad of Hyderabad on the circulation of piracy CDs of the film. Following this, the district SP had constituted two teams led by the Machilipatnam DSP, K V Srinivasa Rao.
The Machilipatnam Inspector, S V V S Murthy, headed one team while the Chilakalaguda Inspector, A Pallapu Raju, headed the other.
The two teams have conducted thorough checks in Machilipatnam, Pedana and Hyderabad and investigated the case with the help of the cyber cell of the CID sleuths.
The investigating police finally laid their hand on Cheekati Arun Kumar, a technician who worked in the production department of the film. On interrogation, Arun Kumar admitted to have committed the crime.
The SP said that Arun Kumar had copied the film while editing it in the laboratory and had sent a CD to his friend, Katta Ravikumar, who is working as constable in the APSP, Yusufguda.
The constable, after watching the movie, sent the CD by courier to his friend, Sudheer Kumar in Pedana town of Krishna district. Sudheer also watched the movie and handed it over to his friend, Poranki Suresh, who is a videographer in the town.
The videographer finally supplied the piracy CD to his friend, Kollipara Anil Kumar, who owns a CDs shop in Pedana. The police said that Anil Kumar had cashed in on the CD by circulating it for a couple of customers and also on the internet.
The police have arrested all the accused and the SP congratulated the DSP and the two Inspectors for unearthing the piracy racket in the district.
