Tollywood caught in a cleft stick Release dates of the season's big ticket films have been delayed indefinitely in the wake of the current political situation in the Seemandhra region.
Though many opined that the smooth release of Pawan Kalyan's Attarintiki Daredi will open the doors for other films to release without any obstructions, fresh protest agitations in Seemandhra have made the makers to push back their releases.
Producer of NTR Jr and Samantha starrer Ramayya Vastavayya, Dil Raju has made all the arrangements for the release of the film on October 10, but due to the new developments, there are reports that he is mulling over finalizing the release date.
Though there is no official confirmation from Dil Raju, sources say the release of the NTR Jr starrer will not happen on October 10.
Apparently, same is the case with films such as Nagarjuna's Bhai, Ram Charan's Yevadu, Venkatesh-Ram starrer Masala, Vishnu Manchu's Dossukeltha and Nani's Paisa which are slated for October release. Adding to it, the thank you function of Attarintiki Daredi which was scheduled for October 5 has also been pushed back indefinitely.
Producer of Paisa, Ramesh Puppala agrees that Tollywood is badly affected by the ongoing developments. Says he, 'Tollywood produces the second most number of films in the country. Over 200 films will be made every year and crores of rupees are pumped in to make films.
Industry is already suffering with the piracy menace. Further, the prevailing political uncertainties in the state are leaving many families jobless and crores of rupees are at stake.'
He opines that the industry has become a soft target and urges the people to leave out the film industry and co-operate with them to ensure smooth releases.
'I feel films should be exempted from strikes and agitations as they are triggering a lot of problems for industry's survival and affecting the films releases.
Around 20 per cent of the revenue is being generated from the entertainment industry and I request the government and people to exclude industry from all these,' says Puppala on a concluding note.
