Thanks to Telangana, Attarinintiki...box office ringing

It's a chaotic scene in the Seemandhra region which has literally gone to war against the proposed division of the state but the Telangana region has come to the rescue of seemandhra film heroes.

Even as Pawan Kalyan's 'Attarintiki Daredi' which opened to huge houses continues to have a good run in the Nizam area comprising the Telangana districts, the movie's collections have fallen in the Seemandhra region.

However, if there was opposition to Pawan Kalyan's movie even in the Telangana region, the big budget film would have taken a bad beating.

Considering that Pawan Kalyan's film faced no opposition in Telangana despite his brother and union minister Chiranjeevi pitching for a united Andhra, another big hero has also decided on the release of his movie on October 11.

Jr NTR who is a crowd puller at the theatres, is coming up with his film 'Ramayya Vastavayya', a big budget film, knowing only too well that the situation in the seemandhra region is not conducive to release the film.

The on-going agitation for more than 70 days has kept people away from the theatres and exhibitors themselves have closed down theatres on most occasions.

Jr NTR is the son of Harikrishna, TDP MP who resigned in favour of samaikhyandhra. Former chief minister and TDP founder N T Rama Rao's son resigned saying that the state should be kept united.

His resignation was accepted. Harikrishna's brother-in-law and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is currently in Delhi undertaking a fast against the division of the state.

The calculations are that even if 'Ramayya Vastvayya' starring Jr NTR will face the wrath of seemandhra agitators, the Nizam territory can be relied upon to rake in the moolah because that is where the big money comes from.

The film is released during the festive Dasara season and the filmmakers want to make the most of the situation. On several occasions in the past, Jr NTR's films were attacked in the Telangana region and the shows were stopped by Telangana groups demanding a separate Telangana state.

Now, there is no opposition to the movie at all and a 'Seemandhra' hero can have a cake walk releasing his film in the Telangana region. "During the festival season, it will be inevitable for us to open the theatres considering that we are doing business though there are protests in the seemandhra region for a united state.

So just like how 'Attarintiki Daredi' could capitalise on the holidays, even 'Ramayya Vastavayya' can. That can be for a few days but after that carrying on with the agitation becomes more important than running films for entertainment," said K Sivaprasad, secretary, Vijayawada branch of A P Film Chamber of Commerce.

It is not just Pawan Kalyan and Jr NTR but also actor Manchu Vishnu who can put his hopes on the Telangana region to bail out his forthcoming film 'Doosukeltha'.

Manchu Vishnu's father actor-producer and former MP, Manchu Mohan Babu is a strong votary of united Andhra. Because of the public stance that he took, the films in which his sons Vishnu and Manoj acted suffered the ire of Telangana agitators in the past. In these favourable conditions, even 'Doosukeltha' can surge ahead.

The situated is drastically different now. In Telangana, there are no protests against films of Sseemandhra actors. There was no opposition even to Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Tej's film 'Toofan', which, however, failed to impress the audience.
