Dil Raju joins the `Dopidi' team While `Ramayya Vas tavayya' may be inching towards a safe zone in terms of the amount invested, despite opening to poor reviews, looks like ace producer Dil Raju has moved on, as he has shifted attention to distribute Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK's `D for Dopidi', which has been pending in the cans for a while, all over AP and foreign shores.
He is the second big fish to lend his support for the project based on a bank robbery. Impressed with the content, actor Nani has already decided to associate with the project as a co-producer. Besides giving voice over, Nani has already shot for a promotional song of the film which stars Varun Sandesh and Sundeep Kishan in the lead roles.
A kingpin in the Nizam area, Raju said it was after the audio launch of the film that he had expressed his interest to watch it. 'Varun Sandesh who invited me to the audio launch held talks with Nani who had by then come on board as a partner.
I watched the flick along with Nani and found it entertaining. When I forwarded my proposal to distribute it, Raj and DK were pretty cool about it,' said Raju by adding that he will release it in November.
Raj and DK, who made acclaimed films like `Go Goa Gone' said that though they are natives of AP, they knew none in the industry to go about their first production. 'When we were looking on how to go about the release, first it was Nani who supported us and now Dil Raju,' the duo said.
Raju never comes on board until and unless he connects with a film. In the past, he successfully distributed moderate budget films `Happy Days', `Ee Ro jullo' and `Andala Rakshasi ' which are not his productions.
He brought `D for Dopidi', made under a budget of Rs 3.5 crores, for a fancy prize, a source told. However, when Hans Talkies quizzed about the price that Raju has purchased the film, Krishna DK, refused to divulge details.
Siraj Kalla, who associated Raj and DK for `Shor In The City,' has helmed `D for Dopidi'.
