Would Tollywood join 100 crore club?

Although it is not justified to compare Tollywood film industry with an estimated audiences of 8 crores with that of Bollywood film industry having more than 1.1 billion audiences, the Telugu film industry have grabbed its own attention in terms of the Box Office hits which have a potential of reaching the milestone of 100 crores.

It is not an astonishing fact that movies like Krish-3, Chennai Express, Ram Leela have even crossed the milestone of rupees 150 crores with the contribution of overseas revenue, due to such a huge number of audiences from all corners of the country. But, the Tollywood movie which is on the records of collections i.e. Attarintiki Daaredi has also not reached 100 crores club.

With a meager audience for the vernacular industry, Magadheera tried to reach 100 crores club for the first time and stopped at 74 crores mark.

So, manifestly it is evident that the Telugu Film industry has been competing with the Bollywood. In the recent times, 100 crores has become the buzz word for the Tollywood industry and there is no doubt that the day is imminent.

At present, inside the Tollywood film circles, the most common questions have been: Who will be the trend setting director to take Telugu movie to the 100 crores clubs? Which hero will give the first 100 crores movie to Tollywood? And many more similar questions of such stature have become the attention seekers.

The background of this movie starts with the success of SS Rajamouli's Magadheera which had collected 74crores and had proven the possibility of Tollywood movie reaching the 100crore milestone.

Inside the Tollywood film circles; there has been a ray of hope that Tollywood movies are no more inferior to Bollywood movies. Magadheera has not only broken all past records of Tollywood but also made Ram Charan a successful hero.

Many expectations were there for Mahesh Babu's Dookudu to break the records of Magadheera. But, the movie could have reached only up to the 70crore mark.

However, for the first time Mahesh Babu had feathered such a grand hit in his cap. Advancing further, recently, Pawan's Attarintiki Daaredi has broken Magadheera's records, despite the fact that the movie's 80mts story was pirated and launched into the market, even before the actual release of the movie in theatres. But, even this movie could have not touched the figure of 100crores in terms of collection.

The target remains unachieved even this day. Many expectations are there for Mahesh Babu's upcoming movie '1 (One)'. Interestingly, other heroes like Prabhas, Junior NTR who have proved their talent by reaching the mile stone of 50crore club with their Mirchi and Ramayya Vastavayya, respectively, are also in this race.

Many critics and film analysts are of the opinion that SS Rajamouli has the inherited talent of creativity and the first film of this stature i.e. 100crores collections will come from him only.

They see the forthcoming movie of Rajamouli, Bahubali starring Prabhas and Anushka Shetty might break all time records of Tollywood to make it the first of its kind to reach 100 crores club.

The fact of other prominent directors, who have the potential of giving the first taste, cannot be denied. With the recent hit Attarintiki Daaredi, Trivikram has proven his immense potential and has been in the news also for the hiked remuneration.

Whatever the case may be, it has become evident that Tollywood industry with approximately 8 crores audiences has become a contender for the Bollywood industry which has the audience of over 1.1 billion.
