Raviteja to Harish's rescue In Tollywood, we frequently come across people who grow from a hero to zero and vice-versa in no time. Director Harish Shankar is a case in point.
On cloud nine after the success of Gabbar Singh, he unfortunately let success get to him and got into a vitriolic relationship with the media thanks to his controversial remarks.
His heady state did not last and Harish came crashing back to earth with the failure of Ramayya Vasthavayya. While hits and flops are part of the industry, for Harish, this particular movie for some reason seems to have done him incalculable damage.
Allu Arjun who was keen on doing a movie with Harish Shankar has now reportedly backed out. Harish is also said to have lost out on the chance to direct the sequel to Gabbar Singh after he hiked his remuneration.
Now, he is in a position where he can't go in for a small film owing to his market price and yet at the same time, he is not being courted, for the moment by the big stars either.
In this context, unconfirmed news has filtered in that hero Raviteja has agreed to do a film for Harish Shankar. Raviteja and Harish Shankar are good friends and have already done two films together: Shock and Mirapakai.
In fact, Shock was the debut film of Harish Shankar. Though his initial movie failed for being too similar to Manoharam, his subsequent Mirapakai was a big hit and firmly established his credentials.
His next movie was Gabbar Singh and the rest, as they say is history. With Harish in need of a good break once again, it seems like Ravi Teja has come to the rescue.
Talent, hard work and attitude are critical to success in the industry. As a disciple of Ram Gopal Varma, Harish definitely has the first two attributes. But not everyone can get away with off-hand remarks like Ram Gopal Varma who is a past master at it.
Harish would do well not to emulate his guru in this particular aspect. If he displays a bit more maturity and sensitivity to the powers that be, there is absolutely no doubt that this talented young director has a long and healthy career ahead of him!
