Mohan Babu to knock at apex court doors Film Nagar is abuzz with rumors that Mohan Babu is planning to approach the Supreme Court appealing the ruling of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh which directed him along with comedian Brahmanandam to surrender their Padmashri titles.
The High Court had given the ruling in response to a petition filed by BJP politician Indrasena Reddy who referred to article 18(1) of the Constitution which stated that any award conferred by the Centre to an individual cannot be used as a prefix.
However, in direct contravention of the article, both Mohan Babu and Brahmanandam have been using it as a prefix in the movies they figure in. Detractors of the duo are overjoyed at the verdict which they deem to be a humiliation for the actors.
Given the loss of face among both the public and the industry, it would not come as a surprise to many if Mohan Babu and Brahmi were to approach the highest court now. On the other hand, there are some who feel that such a decision would only result in a further loss of face for them.
