Film writer Ravi booked for drunken driving The city traffic police booked a case of drunken driving against Telugu film writer BVS Ravi on Friday night at around 11:30 pm. Ravi was driving along with actor Ravi Teja and another friend in Jubilee Hills when the traffic cops stopped them and put them through a breath analyzer test.
"BVS Ravi tested positive with 36 mg alcohol content (which is 6 units above the permissible level of 30 and is liable for penalty). We immediately booked a case of drunken driving under Section 185A (Motors Vehicle Act), seized his car and let him go.
We also informed him that he will have to appear for a counseling session at Traffic Training Institute on Monday, following which he has to appear at the IV Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Somajiguda, on Tuesday for a hearing in the case. The court will then decide the penalty.
Since his alcohol content was 36 mg, he is liable to pay a fine of `2,000," said Chandrasekhar, Circle Inspector, Jubilee Hills Traffic PS,who was on duty on Friday night. When asked about Ravi Teja, Chandrasekhar added, "Ravi Teja, who was in the car, after learning that BVS Ravi had tested positive, got down from the car, took another vehicle, and left the spot."
BVS Ravi claimed that the news is false and that he is a "teetotaler". "I'm at home very much n the news of arrest and all is just a media blow up. Thank u. I'm a teetotaler," (sic), wrote BVS Ravi on his micro blogging site.
