Navdeep in Pattapagalu
What do Ram Gopal Varma and hero Rajsekhar have in common? Neither of them have had a box-office success in a long time. The two have now teamed up for horror flick, Pattapagalu which literally means 'in broad daylight'.
Swathi Dixit plays the female lead. News is that actor Navdeep has been roped in for a cameo in this movie. Navdeep's position in the industry is no different either.
Despite a couple of hits like Chandamama and Gowtham SSC against his name, the actor has never really managed to get a foothold in Tollywood. In fact he even did a small negative role recently in Baadshah, a decision which the actor regrets now.
But what is amazing is the enthusiasm shown by stars to be a part of Ram Gopal Varma's projects even though he has a truly abysmal record at the box-office.
Fans of Varma opine that Varma has primarily been responsible for many actors getting a good break, irrespective of the commercial success of his films.
In recent times, Sudeep and Sushanth Singh come to mind immediately. Sudeep played a negative role in Varma's Hindi flick, Rann. The movie failed, but Sudeep's performance was noticed by Rajamouli who cast him for Eega.
Similarly, Sushant Singh's performance as a villain in Rakhta Charitra led to many more offers. Navdeep would be hoping that Pattapagalu would give him a similar kind of result.
