Threating calls for Harris Jayaraj Three men were arrested in Chennai for threatening to kidnap popular Tamil film music composer Harris Jayaraj. Yesterday Harris Jayaraj wife Suma Jayaraj lodged complaint by saying that the caller threatened to kidnap her husband and their children if she failed to pay Rs. 20 lakh.
Upon acting on the complaint police nabbed the three accused and seized a car used by them. After surveillance and tracking phone calls, police arrested S Thirumalai, who had worked as a car driver with Jayaraj's father for a month, and his friends M Arunachala Panidan and K Muthukrishnan.
After receiving a complaint the chennai police set up a team and contacted the callers with promise of the money. Believing it, the callers came to collect the money and police nabbed them.
The trio, in the age group of 25-32, allegedly demanded Rs 20 lakh and an immediate payment of Rs10 lakh to ensure that the music composer was not kidnapped. Investigations revealed that Thirumalai was the alleged brain behind the conspiracy who took the help of his friends to threaten the music director's family.
Suma ignore the call for the first time but they approached police when the kidnapper called for the second time.Harris known for his chartbuster albums in tamil and telugu and his works were better recognized in Gautam Menon films.
