Amala Paul engagement in troubles
The engagement ceremony of south Indian actress Amala Paul involved in troubles.Few days back Amala got engaged with director AL Vijay in Christian style at a church at nearby Aluva.Vijay hails from Hindu community and the protests started against their marriage saying that church had allowed the betrothal ceremony of the actress to a non-Christian inside the church.
To avert snowballing this issue into a controversy, Amala Paul father Varghese issued a statement saying the entire affair is just a prayer and not an engagement. In a letter to church father Varapuzha archdiocese, Paul Varghese said the two had gone to the church to offer prayers and no betrothal ceremony was held.
'Amala grew up in and around the St. Jude Church, Aluva in Kochi and had special affection towards the church and it was only because of that that they decided to have the prayer there and that was not engagement,' Verghese issued a press statement.
However, guests at the ceremony said that the couple exchanged rings, priest prayed for them and the couple displayed their rings. Amala acted in couple of telugu films including Nayak and Iddaramayilatho.
