Shouldn't bank on 'satellite rights' Prominent Tollywood producer Tammareddy Bharadwaj convened a media interaction, where he spoke at length on the various problems plaguing the industry.
'The 'satellite rights' for a movie is entirely a personal thing of the channels. We cannot force them to purchase the rights to our films. Producers would be better off not banking on the satellite revenue as a precursor to making films.
Also the ticketing process in the industry should be computerized. That way, the government can get accurate revenue in the form of taxes and even the producers and distributors would get to benefit.
A stable system should be put in place where the industry should not think of migrating to other places because of better tax benefits. The monopoly system should be abolished and steps taken immediately to ensure the vibrancy of 'small cinema'. There are also numerous problems in getting appropriate approvals for shooting in and around the vicinity of Hyderabad.
A comprehensive system to tackle this issue would be welcome,' said Tammareddy Bharadwaj. He also lauded the proposal of KCR, the Chief Minister of Telangana to construct a film city on 2000 acres of land, saying it was a positive sign for Tollywood.
