JD roped in Ice Cream 2
Out-of-work actor and director, JD Chakravarthy must have screamed in delight when he got a call from Ram Gopal Varma offering him a role in Ice Cream 2.
Reportedly, Chakravarthy will start shooting for the film soon which is jointly produced by Varma and Tummalapalli Sathyanarayana. This would be a reunion of sorts for Chakravarthy and Varma whose association dates back well over twenty five years to 1989, more specifically to the cult hit Shiva which marked the debut of both Varma and Chakravarthy.
Since then the duo has collaborated on many projects along the years, with Varma's Satya becoming a Bollywood blockbuster and creating an identity for Chakravarthy across the Hindi belt of the country.
Unfortunately, the actor could not follow up on the success of Satya in Hindi. In Tollywood, apart from Shiva, Varma and Chakravarthy have tied up successfully for the movies, Money, Gulabi (produced by Varma and directed by Krishna Vamsi) and Anaganaga Oka Raju.
The friends did have their fallout along the way but patched up later with Chakravarthy taking back his comments on his mentor. Will the duo be able to recreate some of their earlier magic with Ice Cream 2?
